Description: Louis Comfort Tiffany first trained as a painter, then focused upon glassmaking. In 1893 he coined the term "Favrile" glass, meaning hand made, and later patented numerous designs in metal and glass. It was his father who founded Tiffany & Co., the prestigious New York store that sold high quality silver, jewelry and decorative art.
