| Description: | Label Text for object from Safeco: "Callahan works in oil, tempura and ink. He uses monochromatic "Northwest grays" to renter his landscapes, native animals, insects and figure studies. Callahan avoids visualizing a painting before beginning. Instead he starts painting with line, rhythm, form and color moving freely on the surface of his canvases. Kenneth Callahan rose to fame as part of the original "Northwest School", which also included Morris Graves, Mark Toby, and Guy Anderson. He has worked in the Seattle area most of his life" |
