Physical Description: Sterling spoon with smooth oval bowl and long plain handle with lion design stamped near tip.
Description: The 1859 Comstock Lode discovery provided a large silver supply, and silver flatware became a dining essential. New serving pieces were introduced during the 1880s and 1890s, before the number of pieces in any one pattern began to decline. Although most of Grace Campbell's flatware was American-made, she acquired a few British and Scottish silver serving pieces, like this sterling stuffing spoon made in London in 1894.
