| Physical Description: | This pieced quilt has a very large eight-pointed star in the center with a smaller eight-pointed star in each corner and a half star on each side. One side has ten additional small stars in the "LeMoyne Star" pattern, each measuring roughly six inches across. Four of them consist of two different fabrics that alternate, and four of them are made of just one fabric each. Brown and pink are the predominate colors in this quilt. |
| Description: | Eight-pointed stars appear to dance around a much larger star in this lively quilt, while smaller "LeMoyne Stars" parade across the top. Many of its fabrics are typical of the 1870s, and its piecing and quilting were done by hand by an unnamed quilt maker. Cora Lee Belt Roberts cherished the quilt, perhaps made by a family member. She was born in Jacksonville, Illinois in 1871 and spent her married life in Spokane, Washington, where she died in 1960. |
