Physical Description: | 24 trading cards of Spokane Indians Baseball Club players of 1986. |
Description: | Spokane's minor league baseball team, known since 1903 as the Spokane Indians, unveiled a new logo in 2006 with the blessing of the Spokane Tribe of Indians - a rare example of a tribe-and-team collaboration and a hopeful model for other teams grappling with controversy over their Indian mascots. New uniforms pay tribute to the team's long history with classic red script and a retro look; the caps feature an "S" with an eagle feather accent and the phrase "Spokane Indians Baseball Club" written in the Spokane Tribe's native Salish language. This regional team's 1986 baseball cards illustrate earlier uniforms and logo; they also place the team into the context of American baseball and our collecting culture. |
