Description: | Crazy quilts were especially popular between 1880 and 1920, and this is one of the earliest crazy quilts in the museum collection. Its maker created six large blocks, embellished them with embroidery, and then stitched them together to make this piece, probably intended to be purely decorative. The ribbon labeled "Stillwater, Minnesota 1883" is a clue to when and where this quilt was made. |
