Physical Description: | This quilt contains 336 blocks constructed of silk rectangles arranged in a "Log Cabin" pattern. The center of each block is red. The blocks consist of light and dark fabrics arranged so that the quilt appears to have dark diagonal streaks across it. The binding is red. |
Description: | The silk fabrics of this Log Cabin quilt were carefully arranged in the setting commonly known as "Straight Furrow." The quilt is attributed to Mrs. George Creighton, whose family operated a high end dry goods store in Moscow, Idaho, from 1890 to 2005. Log Cabin quilts made of silk were very fashionable during the last quarter of the nineteenth century. |
