Physical Description: | Tray, rectangular, sterling, cast and raised iris motif rim, initials "GFC" at center, by Shreve & Co., San Francisco. |
Description: | While in California in March 1903, Amasa Campbell purchased a "complete silver set for Grace". He was likely referring to their stylish Art Nouveau "Iris" pattern sterling silver coffee and tea service, marked "Shreve and Co., San Francisco." Grace Campbell wrote additional checks to Shreve's in 1905, 1915, and 1916. Perhaps one or more were in payment for these "Iris" dessert plates and dessert serving tray, that may have had a glass liner for serving ice cream. |
