Physical Description: | Late Victorian style rocking chair has wide crest rail and turned spindle back. Flat and slightly turned arms are supported by turned spindles. Chair is supported by turned front and back legs and "H" shaped turned stretchers. Seat is upholstered with gold damask fabric. Chair is machine made of mahogany with dark reddish stain. |
Description: | With advice from William Otis, the Campbells furnished their rooms with numerous side chairs and rockers, including this simple mahogany rocker for the "yellow" guest room. Its seat upholstery matched other seating furniture in this room: a window seat cushion, a chaise longue, and two additional side chairs that are still missing. |
