Physical Description: Medal and bar connected by a red and black striped ribbon with the words "Winners of the West" printed across it in gold toned metallic ink. The bar reads "Veteran." The medal has a depiction of a Native American riding a horse while holding a spear in the middle with a metal cord boarder encircling it. On the left, top, right and bottom of the circle there are curved plaques that read "Veterans," "National," "Indian," and "War," respectively.
Description: This military ribbon, printed in or after 1917, may have been awarded posthumously to a veteran of the National Indian War. The ribbon also specifies "WINNERS OF THE WEST." It is one of six items collected by the Campbell-Powell family of Spokane, Washington, but little documentation exists for its use or specific association with the family.
