Description: | RCA brought their 630TS television model to market in 1946. As RCA's first post-war television design, it boasted a 10-inch screen and improved electronics, and became an early bestseller in the mass media industry boom. Its cabinet featured a clean "Machine Age" design typical of the postwar era. Television as a recreational activity had a profound impact on Inland Northwest families and communities. After World War II, television broadcasting stations began to emerge all over the nation. With increased advertising and more affordable pricing, household television purchases rose rapidly. Satellite dish technology in the 1980s made many more channels available to rural homes. Sources: Nelson, Philip I. "RCA 630TS Television (1946)."
