Physical Description: Red whistle appears to be of an early plastic and of a slightly ovoid shape. End of whistle is pierced to accommodate a neck strap or chain.
Description: Just getting to Spokane Falls was a challenge. William and Sarah Shannon traveled from Minnesota to San Francisco by train, then to Portland by boat and on to Spokane by wagon train. William worked on a Northern Pacific Railway construction crew and later became a Spokane police officer. After retiring from the police force, he worked as house detective at the Spokane Hotel.
