Physical Description: Pillowcase in off-white cotton with opening edge bordered detailed with a crocheted floral pattern.
Description: Iris Nilsson Fruin was an accomplished needle worker. She immigrated from Sweden in 1915, and worked as a 2nd maid at Spokane's Campbell House, 1918-1919, leaving to marry Leonard "Jack" Fruin by 1920. Her collection of letters, photographs and documents from Sweden provide an intimate view of her Swedish family's struggles during World War I. Iris also preserved samples of her needlework: embroidered tablecloths, pillowcases edged with crocheted or tatted lace, and a colorfully embroidered 1920s card table cover.
