Description: Spokane Art Center instructor, Vanessa Helder, documented the construction of Grand Coulee Dam with a series of watercolors on paper; in this view, a construction crew builds forms on the Grand Coulee Dam construction site. During the Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal programs left a cultural legacy in the Inland Northwest, from newspaper indexes and tour guides, to rich public art and community teaching and gathering places like the Spokane Art Center (1938-1942).
