Physical Description: | Miniature fan made of 10 wooden sticks, 1.5 inches long, secured at one end with metal pin. Losely connected at oposite end with red silk thread in a feather stitch. Includes two tassles on each end consising of red, grey and white thread. |
Description: | Like many young well-to-do girls of her time, Helen Campbell (1892-1967) enjoyed collecting dolls and accessories representing different countries. Popular fascination with world exploration grew through the 19th century. Wealthy families took Grand Tours of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including the Campbell's visits to Egypt and Europe in 1904 and 1909-1910. |
