Physical Description: | Midnite Mine Model of Hill 3 Northeast Extension. The scale is 1" = 50'. The model was created by N. Lehrman on 9/28/1977. The model sits on a grey base and it has white elevation levels with markers in neon yellow, neon green, neon orange, and neon pink. |
Description: | Dawn Mining Company operated the Midnite Mine on the Spokane Indian Reservation and a yellowcake processing mill in Ford, WA between 1955 and 1982. Contaminated structures, soil, and tailings have been buried into deep evaporation ponds at the mill site; the Midnite Mine was declared an EPA Super Fund site and cleanup is ongoing. |
