Physical Description: Thin, circular medal made of lightweight grey metal with one hole near rim. Imprinted on one side: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - IN GOD WE TRUST" around a bust of George Washington. Imprinted on other side: "THE CENTENNIAL OF OUR NATION - 1789 APRIL 30 1889 - CHICAGO COMMEMORATION."
Description: This medal marks Chicago's commemoration of the centennial of George Washington's oath as first President of the United States on April 30, 1789. After Amasa B. Campbell moved from the Youngstown, Ohio area to Wallace, Idaho in 1887, he made frequent business trips to Chicago and could have collected this paperweight there in 1889.
