Physical Description: Sterling silver serving spoon in William B. Durgin Co.'s Louis XV pattern and including Grace Campbell's Monogram, "GFC", near the tip of the handle.
Description: The 1859 Comstock Lode discovery provided a large silver supply, and silver flatware became a dining essential. New serving pieces were introduced during the 1880s and 1890s, before the number of pieces in any one pattern began to decline. Over time, Grace Campbell may have changed her tastes in flatware. She acquired numerous monogrammed pieces in this 1891 "Louis XV" pattern made by the William B. Durgin Company, as well as sets in Whiting's "Louis XV" pattern. Later, she purchased sets in the 1901 "King Edward" and 1902 "Lily" patterns.
