Physical Description: Red Riding Hood doll has paper mâché head, arms and lower legs with a sawdust stuffed cloth body. Stationary brown glass eyes with long painted lashes. Blond mohair wig has bangs and sausage curls. Clothing consists of stockings and leather shoes, plain petticoat, red woolen underskirt, green woolen dress, blue checked apron, white shawl with red border, woolen cap with hood. White bonnet has inset lace, minute pleating and green ribbon.
Description: Like many young well-to-do girls of her time, Helen Campbell (1892-1967) enjoyed collecting dolls representing different countries, like this Little Red Riding Hood Doll. Popular fascination with world exploration grew through the 19th century. Wealthy families took Grand Tours of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including the Campbell's visits to Egypt and Europe in 1904 and 1909-1910.
