| Physical Description: | Set of 12 sterling silver ice cream spoon-forks in Whiting and Gorham's Lily pattern. Each has gold-toned bowl with three wide fork tines at tip, repousse fan shape near handle, and "GFC" monogram inside bowl. Handles have one lily near tines, one at middle of handle and two at the tip. |
| Description: | The 1859 Comstock Lode discovery provided a large silver supply, and silver flatware became a dining essential. New serving pieces were introduced during the 1880s and 1890s, before the number of pieces in any one pattern began to decline. Although Grace Campbell already owned flatware in the 1891 "Louis XV" and 1901 "King Edward" patterns, she acquired this fashionable Art Nouveau set in the "Lily" pattern after the Whiting Company filed its patent in 1902. |
