Physical Description: Brown leather bag. Bottom is rectangular with brass skids at each of four corners. Bottom and sides are constructed of one piece of leather with center top opening. Sides have rounded, triangular-shaped seams. Top closure is rigid with brass closure mechanisms at each end and key lock in center on one side. Rigid leather-covered handle in center top. Leather straps around circumference of bag with brass buckles provide additional strength to top closures. Leather identification tag attached to one handle with leather strap fastening with buckle. Remnants of American Railway baggage tickets adhered to sides and ends of bag. One "collect" freight tag wired to one handle. Skeleton key to lock is attached to bag handle with black string.

"W. H. Cowles" on leather ID tag. The numbers "28" and "45" are stamped on the bottom. Many inscriptions are on the baggage claim tags.
