Physical Description: One in a series of three woodcut prints, black ink on white paper; set is #3 of an edition of 30 illustrating the Twelve Labors of Hercules. The series is shown from left to right starting with the capture of a lion and ending with the skeleton figure.
Description: Michael Spafford's concept of the Twelve Labors of Hercules was chosen, based on drawings submitted to a jury, for a mural to be installed in chambers of the state House of Representatives. After two of four of the murals were installed, controversy in the chambers resulted in their being covered and ultimately removed from the chambers.
