Physical Description: | 11-piece sterling silver fish fork set in Whiting's King Edward pattern with Monogram "C" on the top of the handle, near the tip. |
Description: | The 1859 Comstock Lode discovery provided a large silver supply, and silver flatware became a dining essential. New serving pieces were introduced during the 1880s and 1890s, before the number of pieces in any one pattern began to decline. Over time, Grace Campbell may have changed her tastes in flatware. She acquired this set of monogrammed fish forks in the Whiting Company's 1901 "King Edward" pattern, as well as numerous pieces in the 1891 "Louis XV" and 1902 "Lily" patterns. |
