Title: Kamiyama - Old Road Between Tokyo and Osaka
Object Type: Print; Woodcut
Participants:
Physical Description: A landscape scene of a hillside with Kameyama (a monastery or shrine) at the upper right and the hillside descending diagonally to the lower left. From the foreground starting at lower right: a steep hill with three large pine trees and lower shrubs, a procession of travelers in blue jackets and gold hats climbs toward the shrine just beyond the crest of the near hillside; a further hillside; the roof tops of a town in lower left corner and progressively more distant hills. A sky of soft orange with deeper shading along the top border and at the horizon fills the upper left hand section. The scene seems to be of a winter morning or evening. The larger trees are rendered in black, gray and what is probably the full strength of the diluted sky color. Seals are in reddish brown.
