Physical Description: Signed promotional poster for Hoopfest (1990?) featuring Mark Rypien, quarterback, Washington Redskins, Shadle Park High School, class of 1981; Brian Betts, point guard, Hamblen Huskies, Ferris High School, class of 1999; and Ryne Sandberg, second baseman, Chicago Cubs, North Central High School, class of 1978. Rypien is wearing a Shadle Park letter jacket, and Sandberg is wearing a North Central letter jacket. Both Rypien and Sandberg have autographed the poster in black ink. Across the top reads: "Who's on your 3-on-3 team?", in the bottom center is the Hoopfest Logo, and across the bottom reads: "Produced by the Spokesman Review / Spokane Chronicle. Design by WhiteRunkleZack. Proceeds go to benefit Area 9 and Lakeland Village Special Olympics. Description: To promote Spokane's first Hoopfest event, organizers created this 1990 poster featuring local athletes. Mark Rypien (left) was professional football's Most Valuable Player in the Washington Redskins' Super Bowl victory. Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg (right) was Chicago Cubs' second baseman. Brian Betts (center) was a 3rd grader whose father co-founded Hoopfest. Now with 27,000 players, the largest 3-on-3 street basketball tournament and family festival of its kind in the world.
