Description: | Helen Campbell married William Weaver Powell at her Spokane home on June 27, 1917. In preparation, she and her mother Grace Campbell made several visits to Hickson's during their March 1917 stay in New York City. There, they ordered and had fittings for not only the wedding dress, which Helen described as "so simple and such long lines," but also Mrs. Campbell's jet-embroidered black satin mother-of-the-bride dress and several other suits and dresses. At Bernard's, they found a pink tulle dress for maid-of-honor Mary White and a dress for her mother Maude. They also purchased flowers for the bridesmaids, possibly the "trailing garlands of deep pink morning glories" noted in newspaper accounts of the bridesmaid's dresses. |
