Physical Description: Flat cotton sack printed: "H. Skott & Co., Hong Kong. T.H.L. Butterfly". There are also Chinese characters. There is an image of three butterflies in flight above a red rose. All letter characters are in red and green.
Description: Manufactured sacks made of cotton cloth were commonly used as flour packaging from the late 1800s to the 1960s. Pacific Northwest mills exported flour to the Chinese market as early as the 1890s, and, generally, the trade was brokered by Hong Kong merchants.
