Physical Description: | Hexagon-shaped pieces of various cotton fabrics were hand stitched together to form "flowers" with solid yellow centers, inner rings of solid fabric, and outer rings made from prints. The peach colored bias binding was applied by hand. The backing is peach/apricot colored cotton. It was hand quilted through a cotton batting with close and even stitches, 8 stitches to the inch. |
Description: | "Grandmother's Flower Garden" was a very popular quilt pattern during the 1920s and 1930s. Kits for this pattern were widely available, and Betty Hagen may have used one to sew this quilt while she was attending the University of Idaho in 1936. |
