Physical Description: Woman's fitted floor-length gown with train, made of multiple layers of ecru silk fabric: moiré, satin and chiffon. Elbow-length sleeves, ruffled hemline, and knotted silk fringe on the overskirt. Ecru needle lace inserted into bodice. High collar with boning. Bodice originally lined with silk chiffon. Seed and bugle bead trim on silk tulle on bodice and sleeve cuffs. Woven silk flowers with ¾" long oval glass beads on dress front. Hooks and eyes form back closure.
Description: As a married woman of means, Grace Campbell's lifestyle and her clothing showcased her husband's wealth. She wrote checks regularly to Spokane dressmakers, including M. Steffins-Jones and Mrs. J.M. Shaefer. When traveling to New York City, she and her daughter Helen purchased custom-made clothing from designers Hickson and Eugenie. An unidentified dressmaker custom-made this evening gown of ecru silk fabric with beaded, woven silk flowers down the front and seed and bugle bead trim on the bodice and sleeve cuffs.
