Description: | Like many families of means, the Campbells filled their home with books, sculptures, music, art, and travel souvenirs. Grace Campbell participated in the Spokane Society of Washington Artists, enjoyed visits to the Louvre while in Paris, and collected a modest number of prints and paintings, including this Victorian-era oil, similar to "Girl Reading Letter by an Open Window" by Johannes Vermeer. Several of the family artworks were likely souvenirs of their 1910 stay in Paris while daughter Helen attended school. |
