Description: When the Eastern Washington State Historical Society opened its new Cheney Cowles Memorial Museum in 1960, the library furnishings included molded, laminated Series 7(TM) chairs, designed in 1955 by Arne Jacobsen. Lightweight and stackable, the chair was a best seller for Denmark's Fritz Hansen Company. The 1950s and 1960s saw an unrivaled burst of architectural creativity in Spokane as a small group of Modernist architects changed the face of the city. Their work continues its influence today.
