Physical Description: | This navy blue and white hand woven figured and fancy coverlet has a blue floral design on white; the reverse is on the back. Blue is dominant on the front, with white dominant on the reverse. There is a 4-inch border at the ends and an 8-inch border at the sides. It was woven in one solid piece. |
Description: | This coverlet was probably woven on a hand loom by a professional weaver in New York State, most likely between 1820 and 1860. It was passed down to Charles T. Goodsell (1880-1955). Charles was born in Schuyler County, New York, but moved to Spokane County with his parents and grandparents at a young age. He served as a Justice of the Peace in Spokane. |
