Title: | English Flower Garden Quilt |
Object Type: | Quilt |

Physical Description: | Leaves are appliqued leaves at the four corners and halfway between the corners on all four sides. There are twenty floral blocks, each containing three hexagonal flowers in a variety of prints and solids with "flower pots" of plaid fabrics. The body of the quilt is of cotton muslin with a minimum of padding between the top and bottom layer. The edges of the quilt are bound in green cotton, slightly brighter than the green of the flower stems and leaves. The quilt body is quilted in a floral and geometric square pattern. |
Description: | Blooming flowers have long been a popular motif in quilts. Plaid flower pots and hexagonally shaped blossoms add character to this hand-appliqued piece. The shapes of the appliqued leaves are repeated in the quilting design. |
