Physical Description: | Metal speaker (silver) has tab intended to catch and hang from car window at a drive-in theater. Volume knob is grey plastic and is located at the bottom, front of the speaker. Speaker grill is circular with horizontal slats. Some of the black plastic cord is still attached to the speaker. Stamped into the top, front, center is "N. Cedar." |
Description: | At the North Cedar Drive-In Theatre, patrons parked in an oversized lot, hooked speakers like this onto the car window, and enjoyed a night-time movie projected onto an enormous screen. This form of entertainment peaked in the 1960s; North Cedar was operating by 1967 and listed in Spokane Suburban Directories until 1995. |
