Physical Description: | This quilt is an example of the double nine patch style. The pieces in this quilt are ½ inch squares with 4 inch blocks. Colors used are bubblegum pink, brown madder, one green. Muslin setting blocks, white in blocks, some plaid. |
Description: | This quilt is attributed to Mary A. Griffith McConnell (1849-1901), who traveled with her husband and five children by covered wagon from Illinois to Colfax in 1881. Another child was born on the way, in Oregon, and two more were born in Colfax. This quilt was probably made around the time of their journey. |
