Description: Diana Bolch grew up in the 1950s when television was new, and its Western shows influenced her choice of toys and clothing. The Bolch family lived in a Spokane neighborhood of modest houses; Diana's mother worked in the school district's office and her husband was an automotive mechanic. Intensely personal letters, photos and film footage document their work, school, hobby, and home lives. Yet this family collection also connects to broadly American themes of war, space race, and the influence of television.
