Title: | Dancing Tulip Flour Sack Quilt |
Object Type: | Quilt |
Participants: | |
Physical Description: | Twenty pairs of appliqued tulips arranged in rows cover this quilt. Smaller pairs of tulips are appliqued along all four borders. Ten of the large tulip pairs are red and blue; ten of the large pairs are pink and lavender. The border tulip pairs alternate between red/blue and pink/lavender. All of the stems and leaves appear to be cut from the same green fabric. The background fabric is white and was apparently made from flour sacks; Some of the lettering on the flour sacks is still visible. The binding is blue. |
Description: | Lively pairs of appliquéd tulips dance across this quilt, adding spark to a background that was at least partially constructed from recycled flour sacks. Some of the lettering is still visible, and, if you look closely, you may be able to read it. Can you find the word, "Sifted"? |
