Description: | To narrate his life story, Amos McKee created models with wood, leather and iron parts. In 1892, 14-year-old Amos and family joined hundreds of people moving into the Inland Northwest by train. He operated a stagecoach and farmed in Dixie, Washington before marrying the new schoolteacher. The young family packed their household into a covered wagon and crossed the rugged Blue Mountains to homestead near Weiser, Idaho. Three successive drought years drove the family to Spokane where Amos worked for Novelty Carriage Works and the railroad, before retiring around 1950. |
