Physical Description: Single cloth shoe in Asian style with a firm sole. It has a pink back with floral design, red trim with gold embroidery on the upper around the opening, rose upper with floral patterned metallic embroidery and white cloth lining. The sole is green with high heel, short mid-sized arch, metallic embroidery a leather bottom and a pink stripe on the interior of the arch. White cloth arches are secured to the rear lining and the red trim. These are connected by long, dark red cord that is knotted in several places.
Description: Like many young well-to-do girls of her time, Helen Campbell (1892-1967) enjoyed collecting dolls and accessories representing different countries. Popular fascination with world exploration grew through the 19th century. Wealthy families took Grand Tours of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including the Campbell's visits to Egypt and Europe in 1904 and 1909-1910.
