Physical Description: This woven wool and linen piece is an overshot coverlet. Its pattern is the "Triple Chariot Wheels" design in dark indigo blue, light blue and natural linen colors. It is hemmed on all four edges.
Description: This well-worn "Chariot Wheels" Overshot coverlet may date from the early 1800s. Two different shades of blue wool were used to create its design. Overshot coverlets, woven by both home weavers and professionals, were especially popular during the first half of the nineteenth century.
