Physical Description: Oak chair with seat an back panel upholstered in red velvet attached with round brass tacks. Chair has carved feet and front stretcher. The back posts of the chair are topped with two head carvings.
Description: In 1898 the Campbells contracted Cleveland interior decorator William Otis to specify furnishings for their new Spokane home. Otis selected high-quality wallpapers, floor coverings, window treatments, and major furnishings typical of those found in the homes of wealthy late 19th century families. The revival-style furniture was likely ordered from a Midwest manufacturer. The Campbell's front entry hall featured a gothic revival style including tapestries, a coat of arms, and this chair carved to harmonize with the ceiling beams.
