Physical Description: | This quilt is made up of twenty-five patchwork blocks that alternate with solid, cream colored blocks. The pieced fabrics include brown prints and copper tone madders. There is a lavender corner block, and one minty green block in the center. The inner border is a yellow print, and the quilt is bound with the same yellow print. The outer border is the same fabric as the solid alternate blocks. |
Description: | This pattern may have had another name in the late nineteenth century, but was known as "Broken Dish" or "Chinese Puzzle" by the 1930s. An unknown maker showed both care and skill in selecting and placing each fabric and in designing the quilting. |
