Physical Description: Black leather picnic hamper (58a) resembling a suitcase with chrome hinges, clasps which lock with a key, a black leather handle, and reinforced black leather corners riveted to the case. The interior of the case is green with 4 plastic handled knives (58b-e) and forks (58f-i), 4 paper plates, and a pair of aluminum salt/pepper shakers (58j-k) held by leather straps onto the lid; the bottom area of the hamper is divided into compartments. There are two keys (58l-m) to the hamper.
Description: The Barrett family used this 1930s picnic basket while enjoying the outdoors, a predominant Inland Northwest activity. Despite the dry climate, nearly every community boasts a park, and Spokane's current motto reads, "Near Nature. Near Perfect." Maintaining one of the most expansive municipal park systems in the nation, Spokane protects over 3500 acres and provides a park within a 15-minute walk of nearly every home.
