Physical Description: | Lamp, "banquet" style on tall reeded brass column with cast foliate base, hanging crystal prisms around perimeter of rim. Converted to electricity. Lamp has extra crystal pendants |
Description: | In addition to chandeliers and sconces wired into the Campbell's ceilings and walls, historic Library photographs show several portable lamps that appear to have been converted from kerosene to electricity. A unique art glass lamp sits on the center table, its cord plugged into the chandelier above. A small green-shaded "student" lamp sits on the sofa arm for reading. And this tall brass "banquet" lamp features an elaborate, squat shade with crystal prisms hanging from its rim; such ornate lamp styles were popular in late-19th century parlors and libraries. |
