Physical Description: Pennant shaped flag is constructed of a heavy cotton fabric and finished at the edges with a white canvas. Field of flag is divided in half vertically, red on the left with "ARMY" in large caps and blue on the right with "NAVY." At the center where the two fields meet is a gold wreath with a large white capital "E" at the center. Flag has metal grommets at left edge.
Description: Alcoa (Aluminum Company of America) received the coveted 'E award' in summer 1945, in recognition of outstanding aircraft aluminum production at their Trentwood plant in Spokane. Grand Coulee Dam electricity spurred wartime production here, as well as in Vancouver and Longview. After the war, Henry Kaiser revitalized Spokane's plants, creating numerous regional employment opportunities. Wartime industries and their successors became a major economic force within the Inland Northwest.
